{"id":4593,"date":"2026-05-01T13:28:02","date_gmt":"2026-05-01T13:28:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hawaiibroadcasters.org\/files\/?post_type=job&#038;p=4593"},"modified":"2026-05-01T13:28:02","modified_gmt":"2026-05-01T13:28:02","slug":"sports-anchor-reporter","status":"publish","type":"job","link":"http:\/\/www.hawaiibroadcasters.org\/files\/job\/sports-anchor-reporter\/","title":{"rendered":"Sports Anchor\/Reporter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KHON2, the FOX and CW affiliate in Honolulu, is looking for a Sports Anchor\/Reporter.<\/p>\n<p>The Sports Reporter\u00a0is responsible for researching, writing, capturing visual content and editing stories for multiple platforms.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Produces and presents sports reports for all platforms<\/li>\n<li>Ensures that all sports content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality<\/li>\n<li>Writes and delivers sports stories in a clear and concise manner<\/li>\n<li>Assists in writing, copy editing, researching and coordinating sports programming and other content<\/li>\n<li>Responds to breaking sports events and other urgent newsrooms situations as required<\/li>\n<li>Works closely with the sports team to develop comprehensive sports coverage<\/li>\n<li>Participates in promotional activities including public appearances<\/li>\n<li>Performs special projects and other duties as assigned<\/li>\n<li>Shoots video for sports reports<\/li>\n<li>Sets up, composes and executes video shots<\/li>\n<li>Maintains video equipment<\/li>\n<li>Edits video clips for television broadcasts and eMedia content<\/li>\n<li>Writes stories for the website and other eMedia platforms<\/li>\n<li>Interacts with viewers and users on social media sites<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Requirements:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience<\/li>\n<li>Comprehensive knowledge of sports and sports related activities<\/li>\n<li>Fluency in English<\/li>\n<li>Excellent communication skills, both oral and written<\/li>\n<li>Minimum five years\u2019 experience in sports reporting or anchoring (More or less depending on market size)<\/li>\n<li>Superior on-air presence<\/li>\n<li>Experience guiding, directing and motivating others<\/li>\n<li>Ability to identify the developmental needs of others and to coach, mentor or otherwise help others to improve their knowledge or skills<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment<\/li>\n<li>Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously<\/li>\n<li>Ability to effectively listen to fully understand problems and communicate with a team to shape a solution<\/li>\n<li>Valid driver\u2019s license with a good driving record<\/li>\n<li>Flexibility to work any shift<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>KHON2 is a Nexstar Media Group station.
