We\u2019re looking for a hands-on leader with strong news judgment who enjoys working directly with reporters, producers and newsroom managers to make our coverage better every day.<\/p>\n<p>The successful candidate will listen and learn from colleagues with deep knowledge of Hawaii, be receptive to feedback about market-specific stories and coverage decisions, and bring fresh ideas and experience to a collaborative newsroom.<br \/>\n<strong>Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lead and guide daily editorial coverage, including breaking news and major developing stories.<\/li>\n<li>Work with reporters to develop story ideas, sharpen focus, review scripts and execute compelling stories.<\/li>\n<li>Review newscasts and work with producers to improve content, writing, showcasing and overall execution.<\/li>\n<li>Coach reporters, producers and other journalists through regular, constructive feedback.<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate newsroom resources and make timely editorial decisions during breaking news and major coverage.<\/li>\n<li>Help plan coverage of elections, severe weather, major events and special projects.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with staffing, scheduling, recruiting, training and performance management as needed.<\/li>\n<li>Serve as a newsroom leader and decision-maker when the News Director is unavailable.<\/li>\n<li>Fill other roles as needed, such as producing, digital content, and on-air.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Experience:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Previous newsroom management experience, such as Assistant News Director, Executive Producer, Managing Editor or a comparable leadership role.<\/li>\n<li>Strong news judgment and experience leading daily and breaking-news coverage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Requirements:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Excellent writing, editing, communication and organizational skills.<\/li>\n<li>Strong understanding of journalistic ethics, accuracy and fairness.<\/li>\n<li>Experience managing editorial priorities across broadcast and digital platforms.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to make sound decisions and remain composed in a fast-paced, deadline-driven newsroom.<\/li>\n<li>A collaborative leadership style and willingness to both provide and receive constructive feedback.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Contact:<\/b><br \/>\nKITV<br \/>\nNews Director<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/search\/801+S.+King+Street++Honolulu,+HI+96813?entry=gmail&amp;source=g\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/search\/801%2BS.%2BKing%2BStreet%2B%2BHonolulu,%2BHI%2B96813?entry%3Dgmail%26source%3Dg&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1792172794263000&amp;usg=AOvVaw090c8gCPO6JUYJWBB3ffot\">801 S.
