KGMB (CBS), KHNL (NBC) and K5 is seeking a Sunrise Traffic Reporter/Multi-Media Journalist. Hawaii News Now is the state’s dominant multimedia news organization. The successful candidate will offer traffic reports on air each day for our Sunrise Show starting from 4:30a-9am as well as on our digital platforms. In addition to traffic duties, you may be assigned to cover other traffic-related stories ranging from infrastructure concerns, construction progress, and/or disruption of the rail system to any other commuter issues. Local knowledge of the islands is a definite plus as well as understanding of the communities HNN serves.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- The successful candidate will provide multiple traffic reports for our Sunrise newscasts and be assigned to traffic and non-related traffic stories.
- Candidates must be a great writer, communicator and must have strong communication skills to interact with our news anchors.
- Candidates must be able to sift through complicated issues and provide clarity to viewers and web users.
- Multi-tasking is key as you will be juggling many things at once. The successful candidate will be required to post stories to the station website and all social media platforms.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Experience with ENPS and Edius editing is a plus as is knowledge of operating a traffic graphics system, but not necessary.
- College degree in journalism or related experience is required.
- Must be able to work extra hours, holidays, etc.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
